Everything stays on your computer. KaikuSDR has no user account, sends no statistics, and makes no network connection of its own.
There are three exceptions, each started by you: checking for updates, downloading a speech-to-text model you have selected, and sending a problem report.
There is one more, which the app makes on its own: with a licence in use, about once a week it fetches the public list of refunded licences from our server, so that a refunded licence stops working. The request is the same for every copy and carries nothing about you, not even the licence. The free version never makes it.
- The app's page is served by the app itself, only on your own computer, and only to the window or browser tab the app opened. No other page or program can reach it.
- Your channels, names, settings and activity log are stored in one file,
kaiku.db, in the app's folder (on a Mac,~/Library/Application Support/KaikuSDR). - Recordings are stored in the folder you chose.
- Speech to text runs on your computer. Transcriptions never leave it.
- A problem report is written to the app's folder (
Reports) when the app ends because of an error, when a receiver stops with an error, when the page fails, or when you choose Report a problem. It is sent to the developer only when you choose Send, and you can read the complete text first. - A report contains the error, your receivers' models and settings, and the app's own log. It never contains your name, your
channels, your recordings or what was heard. It stays on your computer whether you send it or not (
Reports/Sentonce sent,Reports/Seenonce dismissed).
